Things to Do on Salt Spring Island
We live here, so this is the short list we actually send friends — not everything, just the good stuff. Ask us for current favourites when you book.
DRAFT COPY — owner should personalise this list
(favourite spots, current hours/seasons) before launch.
The classics
- Saturday Market in Ganges (Apr–Oct) — produce, art, cheese, and the island in one square.
- Mount Maxwell / Baynes Peak — the postcard view over Burgoyne Bay and the Gulf Islands.
- Ruckle Provincial Park — shoreline trails, seals, heritage farm.
Eat & drink
- Salt Spring Island Cheese Company — the goats alone are worth it.
- Island cideries and a vineyard or two — tasting rooms are relaxed and kid/dog-tolerant.
- Bakeries in Ganges and Fulford — go early, the good loaves vanish.
In and on the water
- Ocean swims at Vesuvius Bay (sunset side) or St. Mary Lake (warmer, fresh water).
- Kayak rentals in Ganges Harbour — calm-water paddling past moored boats and herons.
Slow-day ideas
- Drop into a class at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga — it's an easy walk from the cabin, so you can leave the car parked.
- Studio Tour map — potters, painters and woodworkers open their studios year-round.
- Beach-comb at Beddis Beach; low tide is best.
- Book a massage in town, then do absolutely nothing on the cabin deck.
